The expansion of Heathrow will need a large area of land which will need to be acquired by Heathrow and currently includes residential, commercial and agricultural properties and land. This area is referred to as the Compulsory Purchase Zone.
We also recognise that people who own and occupy properties outside the Compulsory Purchase Zone but within close proximity to the proposed new boundary of the airport could be affected by our activities even though they are not required by the project. This wider area is known as the Wider Property Offer Zone.
We have developed discretionary property compensation schemes for owners or occupiers of land which may need to be acquired, or may be affected by expansion.
To find out more, and check if your property may fall within one of our property compensation zones, visit Property and Compensation.
